3 Tips for Starting a Healthy Exercise Routine

3 Tips for Starting a Healthy Exercise Routine

How many times have you promised yourself you’ll start working out? Exercising can feel overwhelming, especially if you haven’t done it in a while. We’ve prepared a list of valuable tips to help you get back in the game.

Create a List

The first thing you need to do is create a list of activities you like. If you enjoy spending time in nature, outdoor activities like bike riding or yoga classes may be ideal. If you prefer to stay inside, you could join a gym or a cycling class.

You should also make a list of activities you don’t want to participate in. Knowing what you don’t like narrows down your choices and helps you focus.

Be Realistic

If you haven’t exercised for a while (or ever), it’s all about baby steps. Pushing past your limits during your first week can destroy your motivation, cause extremely sore muscles, and even result in injuries.

It’s best to stick to beginner workouts for the first month. Moreover, while it’s great you want to exercise, don’t overdo it. Three to four workouts a week is more than enough.

Make It Fun

If you make your exercises fun, you’ll maintain your motivation and eventually start looking forward to going to the gym. Listen to your favorite music or ask a friend to join you, and you’ll see the difference.

Don’t Be Afraid of Working Out

Working out is often intimidating. Figuring out what exercises work for you can be difficult and exhausting. Plus, the results aren’t immediately visible, which can affect our motivation. If you can’t get yourself to start, just think about all the benefits you’ll get from exercising to get you going.
